Arrival into London!

Yipppeeee! After a 10 hour flight to Kuala Lumpar, a 3 hour layover and then a 13 hour flight to London, I have finally arrived!

All in all it was a pretty decent flight considering. I slept for a good chunk of it. After I arrived at 4pm London time, I was picked up by my shuttle. The guy took forever to show up, but he explained that he thought I was Chinese (last name - de Jong) and that apparently the Chinese take a lot longer to get through customs, so he didn’t think he needed to be at the airport quite yet…so he was a little surprised to discover I was white, sozaboutit.

Took another hour or so to get to the hostel due to rush hour. It was also pitch black which was a little disappointing. Upon arrival, I checked in and went up to my room. I’m in a 4 bed dorm (2 bunk beds), and it’s all females (pretty sure the other 3 are Australian…they had Jeanswest jeans, dem detective skills I tell you!).

Once I sort of settled in, I headed down to Sainsbury’s, the supermaket, and picked up shampoo, towel and chips etc…All the essentials. I wasn’t surprised to fine the supermarket choc full of tea and biscuits, man the British love their tea and biscuits.

On my way back, I wanted to pick up some dinner. I did TRY to go healthy and I felt a bit haggered after the flight and needed some nutrition, but unfortunately, the only places I could find were a kebab shop, fried chicken restaurant, pizza hut and a chinese takeaway…I went with the Chinese (being a de Jong and all).

Got to bed at about 9pm, heard the Australian roommates arrive back into my room and talk in Australian whispers (dectective skills spot on), woke up a couple times in the night from the bar downstairs play ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’. But on the whole, did pretty well with the old sleep thing. I woke up at about 5am (6pm NZ time) and came down to skype with mum and dad… it’s nearly 7am now and I AM STARVING. Not sure what I plan to do today, but no doubt you will find out soon.

Toodle lo!
