It’s half past midnight. I made the stupid mistake of falling asleep at 5pm…waking up at 10pm and now I’m totally wired and can’t sleep. I’m also starving, but my chips are next to my bed (shock horror) and I don’t want to go back in there and wake up my roommate.
So today I headed into the city to check out the shopping of Oxford street (priorities, priorities), first I decided to walk in a random circle for an hour, in the rain…why? I’m going to mark it down to my jetlag, I had no idea what my goal was, but it wasn’t fun. When I finally found the tube (I had no map, I was just wondering aimlessly) I learnt that I need to take the tube back to where I had started the aimless walk and then take the central line down to Oxford street. So all in all, the walk really served no purpose, my feet got soaked, and I saw houses, lots of houses…
At first I was a little confused by the tube…but once I actually read the map, it was pretty easy to figure out. I arrived on Oxford street and the second I came out of the tube station, I was presented with a gigantic Topshop store, it was fate.
So most of the day was spent perusing stores, which included Topshop, H&M, River Island, Zara, Mango, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 and a gazillion others, which surprisingly, didn’t lead me to blowing my budget. To be honest. British fashion is a little weird, and I don’t like crop tops in any way shape or form. What dick created the crop top anyway? I hate seeing an awesome top and unfolding it, only to find it has been cut in half under the bust. WHY?
I stopped in at Marks & Spencers for lunch, and it had to be the most amazing food hall I’ve ever encountered. Tons upon tons of freshly made sandwiches, salads, meals, fruit bowls, desserts, oh man, I didn’t know where to start, and it was all really well priced. I was blown away with how awesome it was. Definitely going back.
I continued to shop in the afternoon, nothing really stood out to be honest, but it was lovely to be out and about and the weather was clear. I got back to the hostel round 4pm and had subway for dinner (I still haven’t adjusted to the time) and then I sadly fell asleep at 5…and now, here I am, wondering what to do until I get tired and can finally go to bed… apparently there’s a tv lounge in the hostel, so I figured I’d go check that out. Hopefully Jeremy Kyle is on.
I have bad memories of tv lounges…at the hostel I stayed at in San Fran, the tv lounge was infamous for sexual encounters between drunk people who’d met in town….I still get bad vibes from the idea of tv lounges….
Anyway, on that note, I’m off to find something to lull me back to sleep.
Toodle lo!
