The week that was…

So much to say, I don’t know where to start…

I’ve met alot of people, I basically talk to anyone who’s around. At first you feel a little weird starting a conversation with a total stranger when there’s no real purpose to it, except for enjoyment. But I’ve come to be really comfortable with it, and like it. It’s amazing hearing story’s from all walk’s of life, and all the people I’ve spoken to have been more than happy to chat, it’s kinda cool.

I’ve become quite acquainted with my roommate. She’s from Shanghai, but lives in Germany and is here in London for a holiday…she speaks Mandarian, English and German fluently, which put me to shame.

Last night she bought a bunch of English food to try…stuff like crumpets and pikelets, I was surprised she hadn’t had something similar before in Germany, but she told me they just eat alot of bread in Germany (sounds like my kinda place). I watched her take the crumpets out of the packet and look at them, it was evident that she had no idea what to do with them. I explained that she should put them in the toaster, and find some spread to put on top (she was going to eat them plain), I explained that they’re usually eaten for breakfast, which surprised her. The whole thing was hilarious. I think she enjoyed them….I think.

Anyway, I’ve mostly been doing touristy stuff. I’ve done the London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, National Art Gallery, Museum of Natural History, Trafalgar Square, The Monument and Buckingham Palace. I also went to Oxford today which was a beautiful place. And tomorrow for my last day before I leave for Paris, I’m going to do Victoria and Albert Museum, Hyde Park and Westminster Abbey. All of the tourist attractions have been amazing. They are attractions after all.

To be honest though, the most enjoyable parts have been just seeing the day to day life of London. I met a man the other day walking his English Bull Terrier, I had a quick chat to him, and met his dog Megan. He was very friendly and it was nice just engaging in conversation with a local.

Anywho, I better run. I’ve put my washing on (FINALLY) and think it’ll be about ready to put in the dryer. Unfortunately, after taking so long to figure out how to use the stupid thing, I was so excited to finally get it going before I realised I didn’t put detergent in…so fo £4 I have successfully wet my clothes. HUZZAH.
